Tree of Life Pictorial Rug by Master Weaver Berlinda Nez Barber, at the height of her career!
This rug is made from custom spun, hand dyed Churro wool. It has an extremely tight weave. On the loom for over 7 months.
Tree of Life rug design remains a meaningful symbol to the Navajo people. A wonderful choice for celebrating the natural world and helping people reconnect and harmonize with nature. From the Navajo ceremonial perspective; the Blue birds are considered messengers to the Gods.
Berlinda is from the famous and talented Nez Family. Her mother Grace, 6 sisters and niece are all award winning and highly respected Master Weavers. Several of her weavings have been on exhibit at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum in Wickenburg, AZ.
This weaving is featured in our and published in their respective catalogs "Master Weavings of the Navajo Churro Collection" March 2019 catalog, PAGE 20. And Painting with Wool November 2016 on the cover and page 6 of the catalog. Also, featured in the Desert Home by Tamara Hawkinson published in 2002, on page 131.
This weaving has been tucked away in the Getzwiller personal collection, as many of the Nez pieces have, since it was woven in 1998. It is time for this wonderful pictorial to grace the wall of a new owner. First time offered - Jan 2022.
